Just as the ragtag fleet warps straight into a Cylon ambush, Starbuck seemingly returns from the dead with claims that she has been to Earth.

Internal conflicts torment humans and Cylons as they confront their mythologies — one rooted on Earth, the other in the Final Five. While Admiral Adama has placed Starbuck in command of a small ship and crew to find Earth, rifts among the Cylons threaten to spark a civil war. Baltar sows unrest in the fleet when he starts to promote belief in the Cylon god; the three secret Cylons on the Galactica clash over how far they should embrace their secret. The Demetrius encounters Starbuck’s old foe, Leoben, who has come to make an offer of alliance with the rebel Cylons.
