Notes from the Terminator chronology

This story takes place in 2026 as a prequel to the 2028 events of the video game Terminator: Resistance. I have placed it in a timeline spun off from Judgment Day (Timeline JD-5, in this case) because the end of the game depicts three Terminators sent back in time: a T-800 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (as seen in The Terminator), a T-1000 prototype to 1995 to kill John Connor (as seen in Judgment Day), and a T-850 sent a few weeks back to kill Jacob Rivers (the hero of the game). No mention is made of the T-X that was sent back to 2004 to kill John Connor in Rise of the Machines. Though the game and comics were released to coincide with the release of the movie Terminator: Dark Fate, they do not seem to have any connection to that story.

"Zero Day Exploit" Part 2 takes place concurrently with "Zero Day Exploit" Part 1, detailing the earlier story from a different point of view.

Didja Know?

Zero Day Exploit was a pair of digital comic books by Dark Horse Comics produced as a prequel to the video game Terminator: Resistance. The comics were originally available only with a digital code provided with purchase of a physical copy of the game. The issues feature background stories of Commander Baron and Dr. Mack from the game.

Characters appearing or mentioned in this comic

Dr. Edwin Mack

Lt. Baron

Commander Perry

Skynet (mentioned only)

Dr. Miles Dyson (mentioned only, deceased)

John Connor

Didja Notice?

On page 4 of the story, Dr. Mack shows Perry a Skynet prototype plasma weapon he's recovered. It appears to be the classic Westinghouse M-25 40-watt Phased Plasma Pulse-Gun featured in The Terminator.

Dr. Mack shows Perry a technology that allows one to see through a wall via a visor using ground-penetrating radar modulated by Fourier waveform algorithms. Fourier waveform analysis is a mathematical analysis to simplify complex data into a series of trigonometric or exponential functions, such as sine waves. It is named for French mathematician and physicist Joseph Fourier (1768-1830).

Dr. Mack states that Terminators automatically wipe their memory when they sustain critical damage.

Dr. Mack is seen here to wear three wristwatches on his right arm. This was not evident in "Zero Day Exploit" Part 1.

On page 9 of the story, a jar of Nelson Farm Cherries and what appears to be a Jack Daniel's label on another object is seen. Nelson Farm appears to be a fictitious business. Jack Daniel's is a whiskey company.

On page 22 of the story, Mack is using a Cyberdyne brand laptop. Cyberdyne, of course, is the technology company that designed Skynet.

On page 23 of the story, Mack disables and hacks into a Spider Scout. These small Hunter-Killer units appear frequently in Resistance.

On page 24 of the story, Mack and his pet Spider Scout pass the famous Hollywood Sign.
