On page 1 of this chapter (set 7 days before Serenity's
arrival on Carolan), Zoe mentions a meeting with Patience.
Patience is an elderly woman who is the leader of the
backwater moon Whitefall and with whom Serenity has
had a couple of dealings in the past,
as related in
"Government Goods".
This flashback sequence implies that Serenity had
another, unrecorded, dealing with her some time during the
arc of the TV series.
Also on page 1 of this chapter, Jayne expresses concern that
River that may have messed with Vera. Vera is the name he
has given to his Callahan Full-bore Auto-lock rifle, as seen
in a few previous episodes.
On page 4 of this chapter, River remarks that on
Earth-That-Was, poppy flowers were considered a symbol of
peace, sleep, and death. This is true.
On page 11 of this chapter, in an intentional joke by the
writer, Kaylee mistakenly refers to
Logar Keppelwhite as Kogar Heppelkoff.
