Didja Notice?

At the beginning of the episode, the Marie Antoinette watch sends Sapphire and Steel to 1983 Jerusalem. This is the time and place when the watch was stolen from the L.A. Mayer Institute for Islamic Art as stated in the study of "The Surest Poison" Part 1.

At 9:50 in the episode, Webb remarks on witnessing planes crashing into skyscrapers. This would be a reference to the day (September 11, 2001) that the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization launched four attacks on U.S. landmarks in the United States, destroying the World Trade Center in New York and damaging the Pentagon.

Gerard Duborg is said by Webb to have been Breguet's assistant in watchmaking, going on to have a career of his own as a watchmaker. As far as I can tell, Gerard is fictitious.

Webb explains that Breguet invented the parachute to protect a watch from shock. Later, he says that Breguet invented the tourbillon in 1795. These are both true.

Sapphire and Steel go by the aliases Mr. and Mrs. Dossier in 1783 in order to get close to Breguet.

Sapphire explains to Steel that the First Republic of France existed from 1792–1804. This is correct.

Gerard says that Breguet was in exile for a time during the Reign of Terror, only recently returning to Paris in 1795. This is true. The Reign of Terror was a phase of the French Revolution lasting from 1792-1794 when numerous massacres and public executions took place in the heat of revolutionary fervor.
