Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Jurassic World
Fallen Kingdom
Movie
Written by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow
Directed by J. A. Bayona
June 2018

After the fall of the Jurassic World theme park on Isla Nublar, an ethically-questionable plan to sell the dinosaurs to global power-brokers is hatched clandestinely.

Read the story summary at the Jurassic Park Wiki

Notes from the Jurassic Park chronology

The majority of this film takes place about three years after the fall of the Jurassic World theme park in Jurassic World. In a tweet, director J. A. Bayona says the opening sequence of the film with the T. rex and the mosasaur takes place about 6 months after Jurassic World.

Didja Know?

The title "Fallen Kingdom" likely refers to at least three different story points: the fallen Jurassic World theme park (seen in Jurassic World), the fall of the dinosaur kingdom on Isla Nublar due to the eruption of Mount Sibo in this film, and the potential fall of humanity's supremacy on Earth with the release of dinosaurs in the North American continent (and probably soon elsewhere).

Didja Notice?

The submersible pilot at the beginning of the movie tells his co-pilot that anything in the lagoon arena they're in would be dead by now. Yet, we soon see that the Mosasaurus that occupied the lagoon during the Jurassic World theme park's existence is still alive. How did it survive? Since the lagoon gates to the outer ocean were closed until the submersible arrived, it doesn't seem that enough sea life could have been in the lagoon to keep the beast fed.

At 2:43 on the Blu-ray, the submersible craft discovers the skeletal remains of the Indominus rex, which was dragged down into the aquarium by the Mosasaurus near the end of Jurassic World.

The helicopter used by the mercenaries is a Bell UH-1H-BF Iroquois with registration number N911DN.

At 4:18 on the Blu-ray, the mercenary on Isla Nublar is seen to be using a GRiDCASE 2530 tablet. GRiD is a UK manufacturer of durable electronic equipment for military use. Later, Franklin also uses one as a member of the dinosaur recovery team.

At 4:46 on the Blu-ray, the equipment the mercenary on Isla Nublar is in front of is labeled P2800. It may be a power generator made by Polaris, though I've not been able to find that they make one so large. They do have a much smaller generator called the P2800.

At 5:25 on the Blu-ray the ruins of the IMAX theater seen at the park in Jurassic World is seen in the background.

The overturned pick-up truck seen at 5:31 on the Blu-ray is a 1994 Chevrolet S-10.

At 5:34 on the Blu-ray, there appears to be a toy dinosaur (or something) in an overturned wastebasket (or something) as the Isla Nublar mercenary flees the T. rex.

dino in wastebasket

At 5:40 on the Blu-ray, the T. rex takes a snap at the mercenary as he jumps over the water to grab onto the ladder of the helicopter. It is similar to a scene in the final act of The Lost World.

The BBC News anchor Philippa Thomas seen at 7:31 on the Blu-ray is a real world reporter for the BBC.

The volcano on Isla Nublar now threatening the life on the island, Mount Sibo, was previously mentioned in "The Survivors" and The Evolution of Claire. Also, the in-universe Jurassic World website tells us much of the island's power came from the geo-thermal activity of Mount Sibo.

During the BBC News broadcast at 7:33 on the Blu-ray, an outline of Isla Nublar is seen on the screen. Different versions of the shape of Isla Nublar are found in various source materials. The one seen here matches very closely to the one seen in Jurassic World.

At 7:35 on the Blu-ray, video footage of the catastrophe at the Jurassic World theme park on BBC News shows a Nobu restaurant on the Main Street of the park.

The chiron at 7:38 on the Blu-ray states that the G-8 Summit is to address cloning issues. The G8 is an inter-governmental political forum of 8 global powers, currently made up of (as of February 2019) Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, and European Union.

At 7:45, the chiron reads that NASA has found global warming to be increasing at a pace unprecedented in 1,000 years. NASA is the United States' National Astronautics and Space Administration.

At 7:55, the chiron reads "U.S. PRESIDENT QUESTIONS 'EXISTENCE OF DINOSAURS IN THE FIRST PLACE'", probably a jab by the filmmakers at current U.S. president Donald Trump's genius rejection of the scientific assertion of modern climate change.

The final portion of the chiron begins to state something about former InGen scientist Dr. Henry Wu, but we don't see the end of the statement.

The signs held by protestors for the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar in Washington D.C. read: "WE CAN SAVE THEM", "THEY HAVE RIGHTS TOO", "THEY WERE HERE", "EVACUATE ISLA NUBLAR NOW", "THEY WERE HERE FIRST", "CATCH THEM, DON'T KILL THEM", and "SAVE OUR DINOS".

Philippa Thomas reports that the Masrani Corporation has paid out over $800 million in damages to settle class action lawsuits brought by survivors of the catastrophe at Jurassic World in 2015.

At 9:22 on the Blu-ray, an old billboard for the Jurassic World theme park is seen on a building. The advertising slogan at the bottom reads, "A New Age of Adventure".

The scene looks to be at the intersection of O'Farrell Street and another road I haven't been able to identify in San Francisco.

Jurassic World billboard

In the elevator, Claire carries a cardboard tray of coffee cups with a CC logo on them. This is Caveman Coffee, a brand co-founded by mixed-martial artist Tait Fletcher, who had a brief appearance as an InGen soldier in Jurassic World.

Claire uses an Apple iPhone through the early scenes of the film. The news story Claire is reading on her iPhone screen in the elevator appears to be about the eruptions at Mount Sibo.

When Claire steps off the elevator at 9:40 on the Blu-ray, a poster for DPG (Dinosaur Protection Group) is seen on the wall in the call center. The poster features a vey stylized stegosaurid and the slogan "They Were Here First."

A map of Isla Nublar is also seen on the wall.

There is a meta-website for the Dinosaur Protection Group at www.dinosaurprotectiongroup.com.

A number of dinosaur dolls, figures, and even origami are seen on the desks and shelves in the DPG call center.

Zia tells Congresswoman Delgado she is a paleoveterinarian, though she admits she has not seen a dinosaur in person.

At 10:15 on the Blu-ray, Franklin has a can of Dr. Pepper on his desk.

At 10:18 on the Blu-ray, a poster with the slogan "Save the Dinos" and a stylized Triceratops face on it is seen.

At 10:25 on the Blu-ray, Zia says to Franklin, "I'm a doctor, not a telemarketer." This may be a bit of an homage to Star Trek, where Dr. McCoy was known to frequently say, "I'm a doctor, not a [fill in the blank]."

At 10:56 on the Blu-ray, a Sony television at DPG displays a news conference from Capitol Hill regarding the Isla Nublar crisis on the MSNBC news network. Capitol Hill is a neighborhood in Washington D.C. where the U.S. Congress is located; the term is often used publicly as another way of meaning the U.S. Congress.

At 11:02 on the Blu-ray, a poster of a couple of kids playing with dinosaur figures is on the wall at DPG and reads "Dinosaurs Are Parents Too, Evacuate Isla Nublar".

At 11:44 on the Blu-ray, a photo of a dog is seen on Claire's desk at DPG. This may the dog named Earhart mentioned previously in The Evolution of Claire.

Claire is driven to the Lockwood Estate in a Rolls-Royce Phantom with CA license plate "Lock 1". Interestingly, it appears to have no driver! As Claire is getting out of the back seat at 12:14 on the Blu-ray, no driver can be seen in the seat and no one else gets out. I guess it's one of them self-driving rigs.

At 12:30 on the Blu-ray, what may be a bust of Albert Einstein is seen inside the doorway of the Lockwood mansion.

At 12:57 on the Blu-ray, the portrait to the right of Hammond's portrait may be Reverend William Buckland (1784-1856), who wrote the first full account of a fossil dinosaur, Megalosaurus. The portrait is similar to an actual portrait of the man by Samuel Cousins in 1833.
William Buckland Reverend William Buckland
Portrait at Lockwood estate in Fallen Kingdom Portrait of Reverend William Buckland by Samuel Cousins

In Hammond's portrait, he is seen holding his famous amber-topped cane.

As Mills walks down the staircase at 13:03 on the Blu-ray, a number of personages are seen in portraiture hanging on the wall. I wish I knew who they were!

When Hammond's former partner Sir Ben Lockwood is introduced in his wheelchair at 14:21 on the Blu-ray, he has a cane topped with amber in the chair with him. However, it does not appear to be Hammond's old cane, as the shaft has a different design. Hammond's cane was last seen whole in "Redemption" Part 1 (the amber top was left in Hammond's tomb by his grandson Tim at the end of "Redemption" Part 5). The amber on Lockwood's cane is seen in close-up to have a different insect species in it than did Hammond's. It seems they each had a unique cane made for themselves when they were working together.

After introducing the idea of a new human-free dinosaur sanctuary to Claire, Lockwood remarks, "John said it best: These creatures don't need our protection. They need our absence." This is a paraphrasing of what Hammond said in his CNN interview at the end of The Lost World.

Though Lockwood was apparently Hammond's partner in conceiving of dinosaur cloning and the founding of a park, this is the first mention of him in the chronology. In the novel of The Lost World, Hammond was said to have a business partner in the formation of InGen, Stanford geneticist Norman Atherton.

Lockwood remarks that he and Hammond were young and foolish, "trying to run before we'd learned to walk." This could also be another way of saying what Dr. Malcolm did in Jurassic Park: "...your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

Amusingly, what appear to be paper documents sitting on Mills' desk at 16:15 on the Blu-ray turn out to actually be digital representations on the surface of his computerized desk!

This film reveals that every dinosaur in the Jurassic World park was tagged with a radio frequency ID chip.

Mills claims to Claire that they can save 11 species of dinosaurs with her help, more if possible.

Mills remarks that Blue is the last of her kind. The other raptors of Jurassic World, Charlie, Delta, and Echo were all killed during the events of Jurassic World.

Owen has at least three vehicles parked on the property on which he is building his house. At 17:34 on the Blu-ray, the van parked closest to the camera is a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The right vehicle in the shot is a 1985 Airstream 270 RV: most likely he is living in this until his house is finished. The pick-up truck in the distance appears to be a 2003-2005 model Chevrolet Silverado. There is a also a small aluminum boat parked on a trailer near the pick-up.

Owen is seen to have a small-tower windmill on his property, presumably providing power and/or well water.

Does anyone know what song Owen is singing while he's working on his house frame when Claire approaches him? The lyrics we hear are: "Oh, time, she is a freight train chugging, oh, stalling, time is too, When the light at the end of the tunnel, is growing small behind you, I still love you in the morning."

At 17:57 on the Blu-ray, we see that Owen has a small scale model of the house he's building.

At the bar Claire and Owen go to for a beer, the light shade above the pool table has the Budweiser logo on it.

The song playing at the bar is "Don't Look Now" (1969) by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Claire and Owen drink Beck's beer at the bar.

The plane on which Lockwood's team flies to Isla Nublar is a Cessna 208B Caravan with registration number N839MA.

The life-size dinosaur models seen in Lockwood's display room at 22:32 on the Blu-ray are Dilophosaurs, with the collapsed neck fringes seen in Jurassic Park.

At 22:39 on the Blu-ray, something runs through the fake foliage of the Dilophosaur display in the Lockwood mansion. There appears to be a small, green tail that whips by (a compy?), but it is never explained in the film. From what we know at this point in the film, there should not be any dinosaurs on the premises. Maybe Mills and/or Lockwood have already smuggled some compies to the estate from the island, as they are small and would be relatively easily to smuggle in.

The sunglasses Wheately is wearing at 24:55 on the Bly-ray are Ray-Ban Aviators.

The vehicles used by the dinosaur recovery team on Isla Nublar are 2007 BAE Systems Caiman CMTVs and Oshkosh FMTVs. The vehicles are seen to have Goodyear tires on them.

At 26:53 on the Blu-ray, the recovery team drives past the remains of Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, previously seen in Jurassic World.

At 28:51 on the Blu-ray, notice in the background that an abandoned monorail train is seen sitting on the raised tracks.

At 29:43 on the Blu-ray, a copy of the Jurassic World Employee Handbook is seen. A replica/retail version is available in the real world!

At 30:19 on the Blu-ray, on the left side of Franklin's GRiD screen is listed Cretaceous Cruise and Gentle Giants. These are parts of the Jurassic World park seen in Jurassic World.

At 31:23 on the Blu-ray, Yaesu radio equipment is seen used by Franklin at the radio tower on Isla Nublar.

The overturned vehicle in the jungle at 32:24 on the Blu-ray is a 1991 Ford Explorer XLT. This is presumalby intended to be the same overturned Explorer in the tyrannosaur paddock from Jurassic Park, the the vehicle is the wrong year.

Wheatley's mercenaries are armed largely with FN SCAR-L CQC rifles with EOTech EXPS2 holographic sights. They are also seen with a custom tranquilizer rifle for bringing dinosaurs back to the mainland alive.

Owen is seen to wear a Casio G-Shock Sport Watch GA-700-1B.

At 34:03 on the Blu-ray, a mercenary uses a SIG Sauer P226R pistol against Blue. Owen also uses a P226R a bit later in the film as he tries to blow open the door of the sinking Gyrosphere holding Claire and Franklin after it plunges into the ocean.

Owen is shot by Wheatley with the tranquilizer gun, knocking Owen out. The tranq darts were likely loaded with carfentanil to take down Blue; such an amount of carfentanil would have killed Owen through apnea unless an antidote of naloxone was administered quickly. Yet, Owen recovers fairly quickly without help.

During Zia's confrontation with the mercenary at 34:52 on the Blu-ray, Wheatley switches the tranquilizer gun from his right hand to his left and then motions with his right for his men to stand down. But when the shot changes to another angle, Wheatley's gun is back in his right hand and he is motioning with his left.

The dinosaur that sniffs at Owen's body at 36:54 on the Blu-ray appears to be a Sinoceratops.

The dinosaur that crawls through the large tunnel into the radio tower control room to threaten Claire and Franklin is a Baryonyx.

At 41:36 on the Blu-ray, an Ankylosaurus runs past the humans during the dinosaur stampede away from the volcano.

The sauropod dinosaurs that run past the Gyrosphere at 41:55 on the Blu-ray may be Apatosaurus. Gallimimus, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops are also seen in the stampede.

The dino stampede is reminiscent of the Gallimimus stampede seen in Jurassic Park.

The theropod dinosaur that fights a Sinoceratops by the Gyrosphere is a Carnotaurus.

The shot of the T. rex killing the Carnotaurus is reminiscent of the scene near the end of Jurassic Park, when she kills the raptor that is about to pounce on our human heroes.

The theropod that runs past the Gyrosphere at 43:56 on the Blu-ray is an Allosaurus.

At 44:04 on the Blu-ray, a pterosaur is seen plummeting to the ground in the background, probably struck by a piece of debris from the exploding volcano.

Escaping from the exploding volcano in a Gyrosphere, Claire and Franklin plunge off a cliff into the ocean and the Gyrosphere promptly begins leaking water and sinking. The scene was foreshadowed in The Evolution of Claire.

As the Gyrosphere leaks and sinks, Franklin shrieks, "I wanna go home!"

Owen is able to shoot through the transparent construction of the Gyrosphere. But, in Jurassic World, the Gyrospheres were said to be constructed of aluminum oxynitride, "So tough, it can stop a. 50-caliber bullet."

The helicopters seen carrying dinosaurs off the island to a waiting ship are Boeing-Vertol 234LRs.

The semi-truck seen at 47:37 on the Blu-ray is a Freightliner FLD. Seconds later, a Honda quad cycle roars by.

At 47:48 on the Blu-ray, a Taylor TXH 400 forklift is seen in the background behind Wheatley.

The crane that hoists a theropod at 47:57 on the Blu-ray is a Drott 1500 Cruz-Crane. A Rotair vehicle is also seen, Rotair being an aircraft parts manufacturer.

The dinosaur-wrangling by the mercenaries at 48:01 on the Blu-ray is a bit reminiscent of the wrangling scene in The Lost World.

The truck hauling the stegosaur at 48:13 on the Blu-ray is an International 9000-Series.

The loader seen behind Zia at 48:41 on the Blu-ray is a 2014 Toyota 8FGU 32.

The military truck seen at the Isla Nublar dock at 49:10 on the Blu-ray is a Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 5020 with California license plate 3PC1438. This is the truck that Claire drives onto the departing ship to escape the island and which she an Owen also drive upon landing in California. (The same license plate is also seen on Owen's Jeep Grand Wagoneer in Dominion.)

After landing the truck on the ship, Claire pulls down a John Deere cap from the visor and puts it on to hide her potentially give-away red locks.

I wonder if the Brachiosaur that makes Claire cry as her ship sails away and it stands baying in fear at the edge of the dock as the smoke and lava encroach on it is Pearl, the young Brachiosaur Claire helped out with her Gyrosphere addiction in The Evolution of Claire. :(

(However, there are reports that director J.A. Barona has said that the brachiosaur on the dock was the one that was the first dinosaur seen by Drs. Grant, Sattler, and Malcolm in Jurassic Park; so, possibly, the brachiosaur was Agnes, Olive, or Dot as also named in The Evolution of Claire.)

At 51:53 on the Blu-ray, we see that the mercenaries' ship is called Arcadia.

While explaining his plans to weaponize dinosaurs, Mills tells Eversol about humanity's past use of animals as weapons of war, including the Soviets' use of rats to spread disease to the Germans in Stalingrad (now Volgograd). This refers to World War II's Battle of Stalingrad, during which the Soviets did use rats to spread tularemia.

The truck Owen, Claire, and Franklin scoot past in the hold of the ship at 56:09 on the Blu-ray is a Freightliner FL 70.

When Zia needs help treating Blue for a blood transfusion, Claire tells her she once did a blood drive with the Red Cross.

Zia has an arm-length tattoo on her right arm that may be a stylized representation of a DNA double-helix or medical caduceus.

The truck seen behind Owen in the cargo hold at 57:50 on the Blu-ray is a Kenworth T-800.

The tractor-trailer carrying the T. rex has CA license plate 1QA3779.

The dinosaur fossilized skull seen in the Lockwood mansion at 1:01:00 on the Blu-ray is the skull of an Agujaceratops. This is the same skull on which the Indoraptor is impaled near the end of the movie.

In a diorama seen in the background in the Lockwood mansion at 1:01:06 on the Blu-ray, a Dimetrodon statue is seen.

At 1:01:23 on the Blu-ray, Maisie gets on the elevator in the Lockwood compound and hits the last button on the panel for the  bottom floor. But when she gets off at her destination, she is on a mezzanine level of the sub-basement and there is clearly one more elevator stop below!

The x-ray skull image seen at 1:01:53 on the Blu-ray as Maisie enters the restricted area is probably that of the Indoraptor, the genetically-invented beast created by Dr. Wu for Mills seen later in the film.

Indoraptor x-ray

The computer on which Maisie sees the video of Owen training the young raptors is an Apple iMac 21.5.

At 1:06:02 on the Blu-ray, Maisie appears to be wearing Converse sneakers.

Though not fully visible in this scene, the dinosaur that tries to grab Maisie at 1:06:09 on the Blu-ray is the Indoraptor, seen fully later in the film.

To lure the T. rex out of its cage, at 1:09:48 on the Blu-ray a goat is used as bait. This is similar to a scene in Jurassic Park to lure her into viewing range in the paddock of the park and another similar scene occurred in Jurassic World.

At 1:11:18 on the Blu-ray, Claire and Owen see a road sign pointing towards the 101 North and reading Orick 5 miles away. Route 101 is an actual highway running north-south along the coastline of California. The tiny community of Orick lies along the upper north portion of the route.

Wheately pulls a Smith & Wesson Model 500 pistol on Owen and Claire when he finds them in the stolen truck on the road to Lockwood mansion.

The car arriving for the auction at Lockwood mansion at 1:14:04 on the Blu-ray is a Rolls-Royce Ghost.

One of the men arriving for the auction is said to be Ricky Rathrow of Aldarus Pharmaceuticals. Aldarus Pharmaceuticals appears to be a fictitious company.

Introducing the arrivals to Mills, Eversol mentions an equine (horse) buyer for Rand Magnus, an oil magnate from Houston. When Mills asks why he would be interested in their auction, Eversol answers, "His kid wants a baby Triceratops."

The truck seen transporting the Ankylosaurus at 1:20:48 on the Blu-ray is a Volvo N 10.

The dinosaur that Owen entices into helping he and Claire break out of their cell is a Stygimoloch (though there is much dispute whether Stygimoloch is an actual species, but rather, just a juvenile form of Pachycephalosaurus).

Eversol introduces Henry Wu as the creator of the Indoraptor during the auction, referring to him only as Mr. Wu, not Dr. Wu. This is probably because Wu was stripped of all his credentials after being found guilty of bio-ethical misconduct after the Jurassic World incident (this according to the Dinosaur Protection Group website).

The mercenaries acting as security during the auction at the Lockwood compound carry SIG SG 552 rifles.

At 1:29:34 on the Blu-ray, notice that the Stygimoloch runs off into the Northern California forest after creating havoc at the auction.

At 1:34:30 on the Blu-ray, Wu shouts at Franklin that he needs blood samples from the raptor and asks for 50 cc's of carfentanil and a phlebotomy kit. CC stands for "cubic centimeter". Carfentanil is a real world drug, an opioid intended only for use in tranquilizing large animals; it was used to tranq a T. rex in The Lost World and a pachycephalosaur in Jurassic World. A phlebotomy kit is a kit for extracting blood samples.

Franklin uses the carfentanil syringe to sedate Wu. An amount of carfentanil which would tranquilize a raptor would kill a human through apnea unless an antidote of naloxone was administered quickly.

When Wu walks close to Blue's cage, the raptor takes a snap at him through the bars. But she doesn't bother Zia or Franklin. She seems to have accepted them as friendly, possibly because she saw that Owen accepts them when they all (along with Claire) treated her wound earlier in the film.

At 1:35:14 on the Blu-ray, Zia is seen to have a tattoo reading "Semper Fi" on her right neckline. This is short for the Latin phrase Semper fidelis, meaning "always loyal" and is the motto of the U.S. Marines. Is Zia a former Marine?

At 1:36:38 on the Blu-ray, the computer screen in Wu's lab displays "HCN Detected". HCN is the chemical formula of hydrogen cyanide, a compound that boils into poisonous and explosive gas at only 78.1° F. Seconds earlier, we saw hydrogen tanks in the lab punctured by bullets when the security men fired at Blue; the flammable hydrogen was then ignited by sparks from damaged electrical equipment and the explosion damaged a tank of toxic gas (presumably containing at least part cyanide), resulting in the deadly HCN combination.

At 1:37:20 on the Blu-ray, Owen, Claire, and Maisie see the Indoraptor drag a security man's body behind the Agujaceratops display. But when they circle around the display seconds later in hiding from the beast, the man's body is nowhere to be seen! The Indoraptor could not have eaten the entire body in just a few seconds. And there is not even any blood on the floor.

As the Indoraptor prowls through the mansion, notice it has occasional muscle quivers and ticks in its limbs and torso. This was meant to show how this "prototype" Indoraptor was a less than perfect specimen and work still needed to be done to achieve the creature Mills' team was trying to create.

The dinosaur diorama statue Owen hides behind at 1:40:41 on the Blu-ray appears to be a Dilophosaurus.

The shot of Maisie closing the door of the dumbwaiter to protect herself from the Indoraptor at 1:42:22 is similar to a shot of Lex closing the door of a metal kitchen cabinet to protect herself from a raptor in Jurassic Park

As Blue and the Indoraptor fight in Maisie's room at 1:46:05 on the Blu-ray, a stuffed E.T. toy falls to the floor. E.T. is the alien character from Steven Spielberg's 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Spielberg, of course, directed the first two Jurassic Park films and remains an executive producer on all subsequent JP projects. E.T.

When Claire starts using the console to open the dinosaur cage doors, she presses the button for Cage 1 and the readout on the display screen shows Cage 1 opening. But we see Cage 2 opening instead!

At 1:53:06 on the Blu-ray, Mills opens the sliding door of a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country SUV as he is about to place the Indominus rex rib bone inside. But then the dinosaurs start stampeding out of the Lockwood compound towards him and he crawls under the vehicle for safety and we can see the door is closed again even though he's still holding the bone.

At 1:53:23 and onward on the Blu-ray, why is the ground dry and dusty outside the Lockwood compound as the dinosaurs flee into the woods? We just saw minutes before that it had been pouring rain!

At 1:54:42 on the Blu-ray, notice in the bottom-right corner of the screen that a bunch of compies rush to nibble on the fallen limb from Mills' body that was dropped to the ground during the fight between Rexy and the Carnotaurus.

At 1:55:50 on the Blu-ray, Blue is seen to have some scars on her head from her tussle with the Indoraptor.

Blue's scars

At 1:56:00 on the Blu-ray, Blue looks at the cage sitting nearby on the estate grounds and seems to know that going with Owen would mean being caged and denied freedom to roam.

The car sitting in the driveway as Blue runs off into the forest at 1:56:19 on the Blu-ray is a 2009 Jaguar XJ.

The airplane that has a caged dinosaur loaded onto it at 1:56:39 on the Blu-ray is an Ilyushin Il-76.

At 1:56:50 on the Blu-ray, a case full of labeled dinosaur genetic samples is seen. Some of the labels are illegible and others are familiar dinosaurs we've seen in the films. A new one is Dreadnoughtus, one of the largest titanosaur sauropods ever found in the fossil record.

The dino-hauling trucks rushing down the desert highway at 1:57:03 on the Blu-ray are a Freightliner Cascadia and International DuraStar and ProStar models.

The vehicle Owen, Claire, and Maisie drive off in at the end of the film is a Jeep Grand Wagoneer (roughly 1991 model).

It's probably just a coincidence, but I have to wonder if the shot of Owen, Claire, and Maisie in the Jeep was inspired at all by the opening theme sequence of the 1990's Land of the Lost TV show, which debuted in 1991!

Jeep ride in Fallen Kingdom Jeep ride in Land of the Lost
Jeep ride in Fallen Kingdom Jeep ride in Land of the Lost

The opening lines of Dr. Malcolm's monologue to the Congressional committee at the end of the film could well be a way of speaking about man-made climate change by the writers and director: "How many times do you have to see the evidence? How many times must the point be made? We're causing our own extinction. Too many red lines have been crossed. And our home has, in fundamental ways, been polluted by avarice and political megalomania."

The film has an end credits sequence depicting Pteranodons perching on top of the pseudo-Eiffel Tower of the Paris Las Vegas resort hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also seen in the aerial shot are Aria, Planet Hollywood, and Bellagio.

As the film ends, dinosaurs are no longer confined to a couple of small islands. Of course, readers of the expanded JP universe of the comic books know that this is not the first incursion of the beasts onto the mainland: in "Trapped", the raptors Alf and Celia disappear into the Columbian jungle with six hatchlings; at the end of The Lost World, Pteranodons are seen flying free on Isla Sorna, implying they could fly to the mainland as well: in "Death Lizards", Dilophosaurs reach Costa Rica; in Jurassic Park III, Pteranodons are freed from their aviary on Isla Sorna, implying they are free to fly to the mainland, which Flyers confirms they have done when they attack the Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida; dinosaurs get loose in Glen Rose, Texas in Redemption and it is not clear at the end of that story if all them have been rounded up; and Pteranodons are again seen in the American southwest in The Devils in the Desert.

Notes from the bonus material on the Blu-ray release

Director J. A. Bayona was inspired by the 1979 film adaptation of Dracula by director John Badham for the scene where the Indoraptor climbs down from the roof of the mansion and through the window into Maisie's bedroom. Dracula performs a similar maneuver in Badham's film.

The Sinoceratops that awakens Owen in the jungle as the lava is approaching did it out of a maternal instinct, not accidentally.

Unanswered Questions

What about the dinosaurs on Isla Sorna? The island is barely mentioned, only once, in fact, and just in passing. Even if the volcano on Isla Nublar wipes out the dinosaurs there, aren't there still dinos on Isla Sorna?

Is Maisie a healthy child? Is she even the first Maisie? Recall that at 1:41:25 on the Blu-ray, we see the Indoraptor's face superimposed over Maisie's due to the reflection on the display case glass and we see, through the animal's involuntary ticks and muscle spasms (and are told by Wu), that the Indoraptor is not a finished, perfected specimen. Both the Indoraptor and Maisie are genetically-created beings, so does Maisie also have genetic imperfections? And why is Maisie still a little girl in 2018, when we are told that Lockwood and Hammond had a falling out due to Lockwood's desire to clone not just dinosaurs, but also his dead daughter decades ago; so it's seems likely that previous attempts to clone the daughter must have taken place and been failures, with the current Maisie the latest attempt.
