Commander Sho'Tokh leads a boarding party onto the Enterprise.

Story Summary

Commander Sho'Tokh leads a boarding party onto the Enterprise and Kirk must scramble for a defense. Kirk has his bridge crew vacate the bridge through escape hatches to the lower decks just before the Klingon party arrives there. Though the bridge has been captured, Spock points out to Kirk that they know the ship much better than their enemies do.

On the surface of the planetoid, the away team is captured by another Klingon landing party, but Subcommander Divash tells the away team they are going to help her kill Commander Sho'Tokh.

Didja Know?

Star Trek: Manifest Destiny was a 4-issue mini-series published by IDW.

Didja Notice?

The security team Kirk summons to fight the landing force on the hull of the Enterprise speculates on who the invaders might be before they learn from Kirk that they're Klingons, guessing first Romulans, then Nausicaans. The Nausicaans are an aggressive species in the Beta Quadrant that have had clashes with various other cultures, including the Federation, in episodes of ST: TNG and ST: Enterprise.

On page 2, Commander Sho'Tokh gives the command, "Tiqaq'!" I have been unable to find this word in the Klingon dictionary.

On page 7, Divash gives Kutac a d'k tagh dagger so that he may commit hegh'bat...Klingon ritual suicide. As he does so, Kutac intones "Ghiqtal--!", Klingon for "to the death".

On page 8, Divash says, "Ha' dah!" I'm not sure exactly what this means, but dah can mean "now". From the context of the scene, she may be saying, "We go now!"

Commander Sho'Tokh has three small sentry ships fire upon the Starfleet personnel on the hull of the Enterprise. Presumably, these ships were housed and launched from his battlecruiser the Chonnaq. The sentries are somewhat similar to the small bird of prey type ships used by the Klingons in Into Darkness.

On page 19, a Klingon warrior says, "P'ah!" to Divash. P'ah means "gown" or "skirt" in Klingonese, so he's basically using the same kind of disparaging term for "woman" as "skirt" can mean in English! This is supported by him following his exclamation with "Your soft female heart will be your undoing."

The bald, blue-shirted figure escaping the bridge to the lower decks with Chekov on page 21, panel 1, is probably Science Officer 0718.
