consumed by grief at the loss of the Vulcan homeworld that
they have regressed to a state before that of the Great
Awakening brought by the legendary Surak. This group is
referred to by their fellow Vulcans as the Sasaud,
the Vanished. They have gone to live in the wilds of New
Vulcan, apart from their civilized counterparts. The Great
Awakening and Surak were first referenced in the original
series episode "The Savage Curtain".
