The hovermobile parked outside the church on page 1 has some
similarities to the one used by Rance Burgess in
"Heart of Gold", though it
does not appear to be quite the same model.
Ott has Chinese characters tattooed on his face. They are
the Chinese words for: propriety, righteousness, courageous,
benevolence, ambition, true.
On page 5, Mal reveals that the gun he carries is the same one
he used in the war.
The small spaceship seen in the background on page 21, panel
1, appears to be the same one flown by the blue hand men in
"Ariel".
Likewise, the blue hand men revealed on page 22 appear to be
the same two agents who appeared in
"Ariel".
In the lettercol of Serenity: Better Days #3, a letter writer
asks how the Blue Gloves in this story knew that River was on Serenity? No
answer is given by the editor. Maybe they got the information from the
bounty hunter Jubal Early some time before or after the
events of "Objects in Space".
