Firefly: Queen of the Night Firefly
"Queen of the Night"
Comic book story
Written by Greg Pak
Illustrated by Juan Jaro
Colored by Joana Lafuente
Lettered by Jim Campbell

Leonard teams with an old rival for heist, and she betrays the Serenity crew to ensure her and Leonard's getaway.

Notes from the Firefly/Serenity Chronology

I have placed this story shortly after the events of "Return to Earth-That-Was" Part 12 since our protagonists encounter a portal ring in this story, first introduced in the "Return to Earth-That-Was" storyline.

Didja Know?

This is a 10-page comic book story that appeared as an exclusive bonus in the Firefly: Blue Sun Rising Deluxe Edition hardcover, published by BOOM! Studios in 2021. It ends on a cliffhanger, and I don't know if the story has ever been resolved.

Characters appearing or mentioned in this story

Leonard Chang-Benitez

Chang-Benitez Gang

marshal

Queen of the Night/Maggie

Queen of the Night gang

Serenity crew (mentioned only)

"Infernia" gang

Didja Notice?

The first two pages of the story take place "five years ago" on Bethlehem, when Leonard Chang-Benitez was leading the Chang-Benitez Gang. Bethlehem is a moon of the 'Verse first mentioned in "Clipped Wings".

The remaining eight pages take place "now", with Leonard now teamed up with former rival gang leader Queen of the Night/Maggie. The Serenity makes a cameo appearance on pages 3-4, but Maggie betrays the Serenity crew and fires on the ship, leaving it damaged so the Alliance pursuers will chase Serenity instead of her ship, which she is on with Lenoard.

After betraying Serenity, Maggie's ship falls through a portal ring that seems to be of the same type seen in the "Return to Earth-That-Was" storyline.

The story ends on a cliffhanger, with Leonard and Maggie captured by a gang on an unknown world. It may not be in the 'Verse since Maggie's ship fell through a portal to get there.
