On page 1, Zoe looks at a photo of her and Wash and refers
to him as Huckleberry. As far as I know, this is the first
time that nickname has been used for him. She also refers to
Emma as her "special little huckleberry" on page 16.
On page 9, Mal asks Simon if he still has "those fancy
eyeglasses". He is referring to the glasses Simon wore in
"Serenity" and "Better
Days" Part 1, which
prevent his retinas from being scanned by sensors in the
environment.
A pair of Alliance flags are seen flying in front of the
Alliance planetary offices on page 10. The flag is also seen
on pages 13 and 15 (and as part of a propaganda poster on
page 12). The flags seen here have just one large star on
them; this one was also depicted in one scene of
"The Train Job", but all
other appearances of the flag show two large stars.
On page 13, panel 2, a man who is drawn to
look similar to the fourth Doctor from the Doctor Who
TV series is seen walking in front of Simon and Inara near
the Alliance offices! |

The Camdon Train Station on page 15 has
essentially the same Underground logo as the London
Underground public rapid transit system. |

On page 15, panel 2, some handbills have the heading
"GAIJIN". This is a Japanese word for
"foreigner".
As Jayne enters the medical bay on page 16, he is singing
"The Hero of Canton", the song about him from
"Jaynestown".
