As this issue opens, Mal encounters a group of Peelers exacting tribute from some street urchins on Regina. "Peeler" is a British slang term for "police officer", derived from the name of Sir Robert Peel who, as Home Secretary of the UK appointed in 1822, got the Metropolitan Police Act of 1829 passed by Parliament, allowing the appointment of paid police officers answerable to the public, replacing the unpaid constables that were appointed by local justices of the peace.

Regina is a world that previously appeared in "The Train Job".

On page 14, Mal meets up with Agent Manahatta on Ares. Ares is one of the moons of Boros, first seen in "Small 'Verse".
