A brief, semi-origin of Boss Moon.

Notes from the Firefly/Serenity Chronology

This story of Boss Moon's semi-origin actually takes place seemingly shortly after the end of the Unification War, but I've placed it later in the chronology to take advantage of her introduction to the crew of Serenity in the previous three issues of the Firefly comic book (beginning in "War Criminals")

Didja Know?

This 8-page story appeared in BOOM! Studios Free Comic Book Day 2019 #1, which featured a Firefly story and a Buffy the Vampire Slayer story. Both series were created by Joss Whedon.

Characters appearing or mentioned in this issue

Sheriff Akin
Boss Moon
Baker
Reilly

Didja Notice?

The story opens on the planet Barstow, the first mention of this planet in the 'Verse.

The creature that attacks the sheriff and which Boss Moon kills appears to be a gigantic wild boar, presumably mutated to giant size from stock brought from Earth-That-Was long ago.

The Alliance ship that comes to Barstow to recruit Moon to the Unificators appears to be a Tohoku-class cruiser (seen previously in "The Train Job" and "Bushwhacked").
