With Miao Yin and Egg Shen now in the clutches of Lo Pan, Jack (with a little help from Wang) plots out how to win their freedom.

Story Summary

The Seven-Faced Widow hands Miao Yin and Egg over to Lo Pan. Now Lo Pan needs only to kill Jack Burton to appease his demon god Ching Dai and return to physical form. Obligingly, Jack and Wang plot an attack against Lo Pan and a battle royale ensues among Jack's forces of the Lords of Death and the Chang Sing and those of Lo Pan, the Wing Kong, the Three Storms, and Qiang Wu. Wang frees Egg at the start of the battle and Egg battles and kills Qiang Wu. But Lo Pan kills Jack, becoming mortal again, just in time for Egg to kill him.

Jack wakes up in the afterlife...alongside Lo Pan.

Didja Know?

The issues of this series did not have individual titles. I chose the title "The Legendary San Francisco Mystic Kung Fu Showdown and Knife Fight" from a descriptive caption in this issue.

Didja Notice?

In his new role as leader of the Lords of Death, Jack announces on page 5 that they will storm into Lo Pan's headquarters with guns blazing right through the front door "with the Stars and Bars leadin' the way to show 'em we mean business" as he gestures to one of the gang members holding a U.S. flag on a pole. But the term "Stars and Bars" is actually the nickname of the first flag of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. The U.S. flag is more appropriately called the Stars and Stripes.

Much of the action in this issue takes place in the underground Chinese mystic temple seen during the wedding of Lo Pan to Miao Yin and Gracie Law in Big Trouble in Little China.

On page 18, panel 2, a coloring note from the penciler is still in place, "DARK FG" (dark footgear), next to Jack's left boot. And on page 21, panel 3, a coloring note for "blood" is also left in!
