Starbuck's surgical strike force infiltrates the super-basestar to search for Apollo.

Story Summary

Starbuck, Athena, and Sephoni manage to fight back the centurions in the hangar bay of the super-basestar long enough to make their way to a maintenance conduit and escape deeper into the vessel. Sephoni's psionic abilities lead them to a room where they find a badly-injured Apollo being treated on an automated medical device. Sephoni is then able to user her psionic powers to allow her to "read" the integrated systems of the basestar and divine the codes that allow her to create a false emergency aboard so she and the others can escape with Apollo. Blasting off in the Cylon transport, they and their four-Viper escort flight hustle back to the fleet with their prize.

Upon examination in the life center, Dr. Madusa finds that the head trauma suffered by Apollo has caused a micro-fissure in his brain that can't be repaired, leaving him at constant risk of a stroke or brain hemorrhage. He can no longer be subjected to any extremes of physical stress, ending his career as a pilot and Colonial Warrior.

Didja Know?

Battlestar Galactica: The Death of Apollo was a 6-issue mini-series published by Dynamite Entertainment.

Didja Notice?

As this issue opens, Starbuck is firing two laser guns at the Cylons even though he only had one in hand at the end of last issue ("The Death of Apollo" Part 3).

On page 3, during the firefight with Cylon centurions, Athena remarks to Starbuck that Sephoni is doing okay and Countess Sephoni, overhearing, responds, "For an aristo, you mean?" The term "aristo" is short for "aristocrat".

There's not much of an explanation given for how Sephoni's psionic powers allow her to "read" the integrated systems of the basestar and divine the codes that allow her to create a false emergency aboard so she and the others can escape with Apollo.

On page 15, panel 2, "hangar" is misspelled "hanger".
