In the aftermath of his mistaken notions
about the nearness of Earth, Commander Adama decides he must
step down as leader of the fleet.
Story Summary
As the fleet emerges from the quantum storm,
the Cylon basestar continues its pursuit. In light of
his mistaken notions about the nearness of Earth, Commander
Adama decides he must step down as leader of the fleet and
engages psychoanalyst Dr. Madusa to help him choose his
successor.
As this is happening, the Ariadna's
engines fail again and it is determined she must be evacuated
before the Cylons arrive. As the last transfer shuttle is
preparing to depart the doomed ship, the Cylon basestar arrives
and launches a huge assault wave of Raiders.

#11
Didja Know?
Starting with this issue and continuing on
to the final issue of the series, #12, the closing tagline of
the TV episodes is used to introduce the fleet at the beginning
of each issue: "Fleeing the Cylon tyranny,
the last battlestar, Galactica, leads a rag-tag
fugitive fleet on a lonely quest: for a shining planet known as
Earth."
Didja Notice?
On page 1, Commander Adama records in his journal that he
expects the Cylons currently trailing the fleet to engage them
in combat within 12 centars. A centar is about one Earth hour.
Adama no longer appears to have a built-in computer terminal on
the desk in his quarters. Instead, he is dictating his journal
into a tablet computer!
The boxy (no pun intended) ship seen behind the Galactica on the
double-page spread of pages 2-3 is the dream artifact created by
the psionic powers of Xam, still in existence from the end of
"Dreams of the
Thirteenth" Part 3.
On page 4, panel 3, the second sentence in Adama's journal
paragraph should have a capital letter at the beginning. Also,
"earth" should be capitalized when naming the planet.
In this issue, the Ariadna's drive fails. This ship
also had engine trouble in
"Red Shift".
On page 14, panel 3, Apollo says "an centar" instead of "a
centar". Perhaps the term "hour" was originally used in the
script and then substituted with "centar" but the edit of "an"
to "a" was missed?
On page 15, Athena tells Apollo the first transfer shuttles to
the
Ariadna will arrive in under a millicenton. The
Battlestar Wiki points out that the term "millicenton" is
used as a time unit only a few times in the TV series. The best
estimate is that one millicenton is about ten minutes.
On page 20, Hightail's Viper is destroyed by a Cylon Raider.
Hightail has appeared in the series since being introduced in
"Red Shift".
In response to Hightail's death, Starbuck exclaims, "The Cylon's
are going pay for that!" There should be no apostrophe in
"Cylons" and the word "to" was left out of the phrase "going to
pay".
Page 21 reintroduces Breena, a Viper pilot previously seen in
"Red Shift".
On page 21, Athena, as officer of the watch, orders all Vipers
launched for defensive strategy Alphon Beton Eight when the
Cylon attack force arrives. It is implied that
Alphon Beton Eight is a predetermined strategy for protecting
the fleet.
